Christmas Cards

This years Christmas represent a collaboration between myself and my OH. His photos of snowy/wintery scenes, taken over the last few winters, are all shots of our local area and some from the garden. We are usually under several tons of snow at this time of year, but we've not had as much as a flake fall as yet, so we had to fall back on the earlier photos. Don't worry, the snow will be here...any day now. The photos represent what we see in winter whilst walking the dog through the fields and woods near our home. I needed to find a cardbase/frame for each photo to compliment the shot and that  added a christmassy feel too.
I matted the photos onto white and then gold card stock. I used some green and red pre-folded Anitas cards sent to me by my sister Eileen and the ribbon (Three Kings), sentiments (sorry no label) and embellishments are a gift from my sister Julie who went to the recent crafts and hobby fair at the NEC. I wish I could have gone this year, but there's alway next time.  I told you my family support my hobby! And they understand that I can't get stash-stuff so easily.

The hut in this photo is in the middle of the woods along one of the walks and every year at christmas time, someone sets up a Nativity scene of life-sized wooden figures, complete with wooden sheep and donkeys. There are decorations and votive candles and through Advent and until the 6th January, the crib remains as it was on the first day, untouched and cared for. The woods are dotted with little cribs here and there, made by children from the local Waldkindergartens (Forest Kindergarten) using paper, wood, random figures from old cribs and of course votive candles. Each one lovingly tended everyday. I love coming across one of these little treasures; I think they're sweet.

I'm posting  this after the cards have been sent as I don't want to spoil the fun for the rellies.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. Your time and comments are always appreciated. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2012.
