Ditzy-Craftymessers First Challenge !!!!!! Anything Goes

Here is my very first DT submission for the Ditzy-Craftymessers using one of my favourite techiques Emboss Distress.

 

The leaf image was stamped onto watercolour paper and heat set with white embossing powder. Using Ranger Distress Inks, I created the 'sky' and 'grass' background by drawing the ink pads across the paper and taking any excess ink from the embossed image with kitchen paper.  Some clear gems were added to the ends of the tendrilsto add a bit of bling.The butterfly was stamped from Prima Stamps 'Wings' stamp set and coloured with more Distress Inks and hand cut.The image was matted onto white cardstock and finally onto the blue card-base.

Ditzy-Craftymessers- Daily Challenge- Card with a pocket

Hi all,

todays challenge was to make a card that had a pocket to hold gift tokens, tickets, money.....etc.

This is my entry.
I remembered a card I'd made before but it was for a male and I had made a tuxedo jacket. I just did a rethink and made a more feminine card. All the bits came from my stash and my Adler Card came from my wallet :)

Ditzy-Craftymessers - Colouring with Watercolours etc.

"Stamp out a floral stamp onto white card using Stazon, Digi images are acceptable, but more difficult...watch your lines. Then using ONLY watercolour pencils, waterbased pens, acrylic watercolour paints, colour in the image, then mount and make..... card/ATC/scrapbook page/bookmark/fat page etc etc"

These are todays instruction the for Ditzy Crafty-Messers Challenge Blog . I haven't used my watercolour pencils for a while so it was nice to dig them out again for this challenge. 

The 'Daisy' has been stamped three times onto a 12 x 12cm piece of white card with the help of a bit of masking. I've used some Faber Castel water-colour pencils to do the colouring and tried to create a bit of light and shadow with the limited colours I had.  The finished image was mounted on the a blue background and then on to a 13 x 13 cm silver cardbase from my stash. The blue ribbon came from some wrapping left-over from christmas. Sentiments and Daisy come from Stamps of Life.

The result is not too bad :)

Distress and Rust

What a way to get rid of the Monday blues!
Inspired by a catologue I got from my local art shop, I've been trying to recreate the effect of oxidisation or 'rusting' using watercolour inks and ink pads.  I love working with inks and generally getting messy  and this is my first attempt at something bigger than a greeting card or ATC. It is actually quite 'freeing' to just let the inks find their place and then work with the result. I have used some acrylic stamps, Ranger distress ink, rough  straw ribbon, Glossy Accents and paper from a pack from the same art shop.

Shame about the shadow on the photo because the colours work well together. Really pleased with this and can't wait to try this again.

Ditzy-Craftymess - Daily challenge - 16th Jan 2012

Here is my entry for the DCM  Daily Challenge.   Anything Goes!

Anything goes with your favourite technique.
Readers of this blog will know that I am fond of the Emboss -Resist  technique and love to play with inks and my heat-embossing tool :)

This is a 5x5 piece of blue cardstock, stamped with decorative circles using Versamark and dusted with gold embossing powder. After heat setting the embossing powder I then rubbed some bright red and green ink over the card in random stripes and then buffed the ink off of the circles with kitchen paper. Some brown ink to follow and then some roughing up with course sandpaper. I was aiming for  a 'weathered paint' look. The blue card was matted on to an old torn page and then on to a cream background.

It's a shame the photo doesn't show  up the 'chipped' embossing that gives a really good distressed feel

This was chosen as the winner for yesterdays challenge: not at all bad for a Monday!

Family Power

Hi all you lovely crafters,

Since Christmas I've been a bit neglectful of my scrapbooking and I have been meaning to get back into the swing of things to complete some layouts for family and friends.  Here is my first page for 2012. My lovely sister-in-law Sheila and her family. Just loved this photo the first time I saw and  knew it had to be scrapped!

The  plain shimmer 30x30cm page comes from a scrapbook kit I bought ages ago. I used a mask same size as the photo to stamp some stems and butterflies to shape a frame. The photo was matted onto some green patterned paper which had an embossed swirly detail  and then on to some blue card thats pick up the colour of the shirt in the photo. I place the photo off centre to right to create some negative space and not overcrowd the page. The 'less is more' approach keeps the focus in the photo.The embellishments all come from the same K&Co pack (part of a great goodie-bag gift from Sheila) and the stamped images are dotted here and there  with some Diamond Stckles in Waterfall and Star Dust.

I can definately feel the Mojo coming back :)

Ditzy-Craftmessers - Daily Challenge - Kitchen Stuff

The DCM  for the 13th Jan was to create a card. ATC, page etc, using only items found in the kitchen. This was tough as I am not used to seeing kitchen untensils as craft equipment. Also no embellishments, no images, no commercial stamps no etc.....here goes.

The 'fatpage' was made using baking paper stamped with Versacolor Royal Blue ink using a plastic knife and metal fork to create the main image. I attached the baking paper to a piece of card using kitchen twine through holes  punched out with a cocktail stick. To finish I decorated the edges with the same ink, using the tips of the fork to create a 'pie-crust' border. In the process of decorating the edges the twine, purely by accident, was decorated too.

A little bit of red Versacolor smudged  around  the edges with a paper towel helped to pop-out the blue 'sails'.Viola!

My Craft Space

Hi All,
Thought you would like to see where I go to make my crafty creations. This is part of a basement room I share with my OH. He works at one end in splendid organised peace and I don't !

Full of 'repurposed' bits and pieces from around house, it is my little piece of heaven. You will find jam and pickle jars used for storing embellishments, curtain-rings for hanging packs of brad,  all living together on a wrought-iron vegetable-rack that got too big for my kitchen. A glass display cabinet holds my ribbons and the old printer's-type drawer displays my collection of wood-block stamps. See, everything gets a second chance and new purpose in life.

Hard to believe sometimes that all of this started in a cardboard box I could keep in a cupboard. Since then I have accumulated lots and lots of craft supplies and equipment. Family and friends contribute to the stash on a regular basis and I am in the process of finding homes for the great craft presents I got for birthday and Christmas. I should be honest and say that this is what passes for tidy in my crafty space. Underneath all that chaos there is order and there is method...well that's my story!

Ditzy-Craftymess - Daily Challenge - Lace

This is today's enrtry for the DCM daily challenge.  Make anything but it has to have lace on it.
I used a Tim Holtz Tags and Bookplates die  for the base and adhered a page from a old book to it. The tag and the page were distressed with Ranger Distress Inks in Pumice Stone and Tumbled Glass. I used some leftover Sizzix cut-outs to ink around to add a bit more depth to the colour. The heart was cut with a Sizzix 'Primitive Heart' die and then run through the Big Shot and embossed with a Cuttlebug  Moroccan Screen folder. The lace and black ribbon are from my stash and the paper flowers are from Reyher, stamped with the same distress inks.  The Gold Heart and Pearl pin come from Daintree Paper in Dublin.

This is another first for me: A Tag. I've been a fan of Tim Holtz for a while now, but been a bit scared to try-out a Tag because his and some of his followers are so fanatasic! Anyway here's my first attempt.

Ditzy-Craftymess - Challenge

This card was made for the Ditzy Craftymess Challenge blog daily challenge.

The challenge was to make an ATC, card or altered item with a  motto, qoute or saying. I found this Jane Austin quote and as a big fan I had to use this for the challenge. The backing paper is from the Material Girl paper pack from COSMO Cricket matted onto some gold cardstock and adhered to a cream card base. The ornate frame is heat embossed  using Prima Marketing clear stamp from the Wings set using gold embossing powder. The ribbons came from my stash and the Butterfly was punched using a Martha Stewart punch.


Not bad for a quick little card for the Ditzy-Craftymess daily challenge.

Ditzy-Craftymess Quick Challenge - Peel-Offs

Todays quick challenge is an ATC using Peel-Offs. I am not a big fan of Peel-Offs simple because I'm a bit 'cack-handed'  (pardon my Deutsch) when is comes to the handling of the delicate little things.  The filigree flowers and corners just turned into a sticky tangled mess when I tried to use them in the past. However thanks to the challenge over at Ditzy-Craftymess Challenge Blog I had to overcome my fears and get to grips with peel-offs.

 

The two ATCs posted reflect that I have a lot of Butterflies in my peel-off collection.  'Beauty' has a background I made with some water-colouor paper and water-based inks. The Butterflies are from Paperchase and I used a Tombow marker for the faux stitching.  'B is for' was made using some gold cardstock to which I matted  a piece from some 5.5 x 6.5 inch paper from a DCVW stack called Glittery Sweetness. The butterfly is from a sheet of peel-offs I picked up for €1 in a bargain bin hereabouts.

I think I'm getting the hang of ATC's :)

Ditzy-Craftymess - ATC's and Me.

 HI all and Happy New Year!

Todays post is my first for 2012 and a jolly good one it is too.  Finally had one of my 'crafty' ambitions realised when I was chosen as a DT member for Ditzy-Craftymess Challenge Blog and I won my first challenge with my first ATC!
Who's a happy bunny ?

The challenge was to make an ATC using a Tea-Bag fold flower to embellish it.  The ATC was made using a  a piece of Dusty Pink card, embossed and then matted onto some white linen card cut to 3.5 x 2,5 inches. The embossed area was then distressed with some Whispers Archival ink in Rich Plum to emphasise the image. The 'A' and the L'il Bee came from my stash, as well as the button and the pink organza ribbon. The Teabag papers came from a pack I've had kicking around for a while waiting for an opportunity like this. The pack contains 22 sheets of Teabag patterns for all occasions. Using a Kite fold, my choice was a 'crafty' theme with scissors, glue, thread, sewing machine and of course coffee cups. To finish the tips of the assembled flower were teased up to give a petal effect.

I've never worked on such a small area before and I have shied away from ATC's as I thought they would be too difficult, but I am pleased with this first effort.
