This is a card I made for my lovely mother-in-law's birthday Jenny is an Alzheimers sufferer and she has problems remembering things but has never forgotten her favourite colours - Pinks and Lilacs.
Colour plays an important part in stimulating the brain, so I made this card with as many of Jenny's favourite colours as possible. The edges of a white card-base was inked with Lilac ink to which I matted Happy Birthday double-sided background. paper. The next two layers are of Lilac cardstock with the reverse side of the birthday paper matted together. This side of the paper has Happy Birthday printed in various fonts and colours, with a bit of glitter to add some bling! The heart topper I bought at a local craft store and I used it as a guide to cut out the shape from the purple gingham paper. I finished the card with a purple bow and the word Mam die cut from Funny Foam using the Tim Holtz die Country Market. I am hoping that the bright colours and different textures make this the ideal card for Jenny.
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to leave your comment.
Oh Angela, this is simply stunning! Love the mix of lilac and purple and the textures. Obviously made with a lot of love, I'm sure Jenny will be delighted. Alzheimers is so cruel - my step-mum has it too. It's been a while since you blogged - but you're back with a bang with this creation!! Di xxReplyDelete
Been so busy and had my Mum to visit and wanted to make the most of the time. Lindau was lovely. Sitting eating ice-cream in front of the casino..fantastic!ReplyDelete
Thanks for the comments. It is so distressing to see my mother-in-law not recognise her children and treat them as polite strangers. A fit lady for her 88 years, but no recent memories to speak of. So sad.
I am back in the crafting mood, I just need to start back with the challenges.
Hope all is well with you.
Hi Angela, what a beautiful card, I'm sure your MIL will love it. Yes we have a family member who suffers and it is terrible seeing someone you love become a stranger.ReplyDelete
Thanks for the comment on my blog, I just hope I have time to keep it up.
