Pick a Country - Craftymess Challenge #22

Hello all and welcome to my crafty  blog.

My post today is my DT card for the new challenge at the  Craftymess Challenge Blog and the theme is 'Countries' chosen by Teamie  Nicky.

My cardbase is a standard A6 made with white cardstock to which I have matted a piece pink patterned paper and added a strip of cream lace along the bottom. I chose the Japanese image and used Copics and Sprectrum Noir pens to apply the colour.  The sentiment was stamped onto the same pink paper and punched out. This was then adhered to a punched scalloped circel and popped up with dimensional adhesive.

I tried not to crowd the image and resisted adding too many embellishments.

Mary, Mary quite contrary how does your garden grow?

The Mary Mary image for my DT card  was downloaded from a site offering free printable images. I coloured the image using my trusty watercolours and matted the finished image onto a piece of white card  that was slightly larger than the image to create a frame.  I popped this image onto a MemoryBox die-cut decorative frame using demensional adhesive and matted the frame to a 4x4" piece of polka dot patterned paper.  I added some bling to the corners and threaded a strip of organza ribbon behind the image and tied a flat-ish knot. The layers were then adhered to a 5x5" tent fold mauve card base. The 'Hello Sunshine' sentiment from Verve Stamps was added to finish.

Anything goes - Craftymess Challenge 19

Hello and welcome back to my crafty blog.

The first part of my post is to announce the new challenge starting today over at the Craftymess Challenge

The theme is Anything Goes and  was chosen by  teamie Sandra. Judging by the response we had from the last challenge we have a lot of wonderfully talented followers and I can't wait to see what they can produce for this new challenge. Our sponsors for this new challenge is Crafty-Emblies 

 My 'not so' minibook :)

 My Anything Goes DT  piece is a scaled up version of the mini-book which is normally cut from a 12x12 inch piece of paper. I had some cream A0 sized paper from which I cut a square that when folded produce a 5x5 inch book. The book-covers were cut from some light card and covered with some antique style paper and I inserted  a deep red ribbon between the covers to act as the closer for the book. The edges of the book cover were distress with some Vintage Photo ink and a little bit of Versacolor Blazing Red ink to warm up the background and tie in with the red of the ribbon. I also used a light rubbing of Vintage Photo ink on the edges of the pages to add  to the aged look. I adhered  some Crafty-Emblies flourishes to some corners on the front cover and distressed them with gold ink. Some flat-backed pearls were added here and there for a little bit of bling. I finished the book by threading a cream silk tassle and a Crafty-Emblies key to the ribbon and tied a lovely full bow.  I am pleased with the result.

Second part of the blog is that  we have a fine and fresh day here and I am hoping to get out into the garden  later to get some Autumn clean-up done.  I am loving the rich colours that Autumn creates and I am hoping to get some inspiration to help me use the  free digi-kit  I've just downloaded from  Summertime Designs . It is full of wonderful colours and elements and I'm hoping to get working it with the kit a bit later.

Words - Craftymessers Challenge - 11 August 2012

Today I am blogging my DT card for the Craftymessers Challenge Blog newest challenge starting today Saturday 11th. The theme chosen by teamie Judie is simply'WORDS'.

We were to create a DT project reflecting only words as the main feature of the piece and this is my contribution.  I do like this stamp from the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous range and I think the sentiment speaks to all of us crafters.

My card is 5x5 tent fold cardbase, matted with dark gray and mustard coloured paper. Decorated with rub-on flourishes and edges outined with a fine liner pen. Sentiment stamped onto distressed scalloped oval background and embellished with two brass brads. A yellow gross-grain ribbon to finish.

today I am posting ( a bit late) my DT card for the current challenge running over at the  Craftymessers Challenge Blog for the next fortnight.

My card is a standard 5x5 basecard in white with a smaller square of lilac card matted to the front. I coloured my image with watercolours and adhered the finished image to a square of pink card that had been decorated with some lilac organza ribbon and pink check Washi Tape. Some Pink and Green gems and a Pink flower were added as embellishments and some green and pink check backing-paper was added for contrast. The senitment was stamped in Stäz-On black ink and I hand drew the 'notes' with a fine black marker.

Sun / Moon - Craftymess Challenge beginning Saturday 14th July

Hi all and welcome to my crafty blog.

Today I am posting my DT card for the new challenge starting today over at the  The Craftymessers Challenge Blog .  The challenge, chosen by our teamie FIONA, runs for a fortnight and the theme is Sun and/or Moon.

I've been wanting to try out Brayer techniques for a while now and inspired by this theme and my teamies, I gave it a go for this challenge.

First thing I noticed was I didn't have enough ink pads and the ones I had were not big enough!  I know, I know, I can hear you say "call yourself a papercrafter"...the shame of it. But this will be rectified soon as more colours and bigger ink pads are part of the next crafty shopping list.  Undaunted by my lack of kit,  I soldiered on with my current stock and got quite messy and inky in the process.. Great FUN!!!!

I started with a piece of plain white smooth cardstock with a punched circle masking the spot where I wanted the sun and started with the lighter colour blue. I loaded the brayer with ink, making sure that I left no gaps on the roller and starting off the paper, began rolling the ink lightly across the card. Working toward the middle, I repeated the process until I got the colour and the blend I wanted. At the opposite end of the card, I started with the darker blue, but this time before I applied the ink to the cardstock, I ran the brayer lighty over a piece of crumpled paper to lift off some of the ink. Then, when I applied the ink to the card it produced a 'ripple' effect on the water.

The background was created with a torn piece of paper masking out a mountain shape and carefully brayered in the ink. I used the piece of paper I'd punched the circle out of to act as a mask for the 'sun', which helped me to stay inside the lines and get a nice misty effect on the sun. To create perspective, I stamped some reeds in black ink in the bottom right hand corner and added three bird outlines with fineliner pen. The finished card was matted onto white and gold cardstock and then adhered to a Kraft cardbase.

Those of you you read my blog already know that I love getting inky and this was my kind of creative fun.

My Fantasy card was made using the 'Leprechaun' digital image from Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps

I printed the digital image onto a piece of white card and used my Towbow Waterbased markers colour the image.  I created the background by stamping the grasses with white embossing powder and setting with a heat tool. I then added colour with ECO waterbased inks in shades of green and red, letting the inks flow into one another for a more blended effect. 

I sponged  in some dark purple and dark green to deepen the clours and help the digi image pop out from the background. I drew a black 'cauldron' on white card and coloured with a black Copic marker. The 'gold' was made with a piece of gold cardstock, embossed with small circles and decorated with swirls of Diamond Stickles.

I matted the background onto green patterned paper and then onto a white A5 cardbase. The cut-out digital image was added to the card front using dimensional adhesive pads. To complete the card I adhered the pot of gold just within easy reach of the Leprechaun.  

I wish I could catch this little fellow, as a pot of gold always comes in handy :-))

Craftymessers - Non-traditional Christmas Card

Hello and welcome to my crafty blog.

Today my post is my DT card for the Craftymessers Challenge Blog. The theme, chosen by teamie Shirly-Anne,  is for a card using non-traditional colours and/or images to create a Christmas Card. I'm a big fan of the Non-Trad Christmas card  and I have been known to use bright pinks and greens and even black in previous Christmas Cards. This time my card was made using a Navy coloured card-base with a strip of lime green card, torn to create rough edges.  A piece of bright pink ribbon was stamped with snowflakes and adhered to the lime green card. Some pink gems were added to the centre of the snowflakes. I stamped some tree outlines and the sentiment with Versamark  and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I stamped the image on to white card and coloured it using Copics and the finished image was adhered to the card with some dimensional adhesive pads to make it pop.  I like how the colours work and still have a Christmas feel.

The stamped images and sentiment come from the same Polka-Doodles stamp set that was a freebie with a Christmas issue of Papercraft Essentials.

Craftymessers Challlenge May 6th - Pink and Cute

Hello and welcome to my crafty blog.

Today I am bloggin about my DT card for the new challenge starting at the  Craftymessers Challenge Blog  today.  The theme  chosen by my teamie Gemma is Pink and Cute and the DT team have been given some Sassy Studio Designs digi stamps to use to create the DT projects. I chose this image to make my card.

I printed the digi-image onto white card and coloured the 'princess' using my Copics markers. I used a Nellie Snellen scalloped-oval die, taking care to cut the bottom of the dress clear of the die to give the image a frame. Paper from the  DCWV 'The Glittersweet' mattstack was used to matt the cut-out image and it was then adhered to a white cardbase.  To embellish the card front I made a pink flower from some organza ribbon and a pink brad and a deep pink.paper flower from Reyher. A punched out Butterfly in white with a pink gem in the centre completes the card.
